Your solution to deal w/a right sided stomach pain during a race was sooo right!! I did the c-ville 10 miler (VA) yesterday, & had my 1st experience w/a stomach cramp during a race. I shiftered my posture & relaxed, & w/in minutes the pain went away, never to return & I had a great race!!!
I happen to read your suggestion afterwards, but you put the words in context for me to share this w/others.
I really love this site, and the Tues. nite conference calls!!
    THANKS!!!

    Hey Kerry,
Thanks again for everything you do for us. I listen to the interview series over and over again. Well worth the price I paid.

This might be a stupid question, if so, don’t bother answering. When one does an IM, I’m assuming that everyone high tails it to the woods or potty to relieve themselvers, right? I rode my bike for about 5 hours today, and had to stop 3 times. I’ve read a lot, and listened to a lot of information, but have heard little discussed on this subject…I’m assuming it is because it is so obvious it should not be discussed??? :-) For example, does a Chrissie Wellington or Potts make any stops during her IM crushing times?

Just keep riding and pee. If you don’t have to pee then you are probably dehydrated.

Stop pedaling. Lean a little to the side and relax. Best to do this on a downhill. You may get some on your leg, but just clean it up using your water bottle. (Make sure it is water and not sports drink!#!)

    Saves a lot of time.

    Bonus: Stops drafters.
