Your solution to deal w/a right sided stomach pain during a race was sooo right!! I did the c-ville 10 miler (VA) yesterday, & had my 1st experience w/a stomach cramp during a race. I shiftered my posture & relaxed, & w/in minutes the pain went away, never to return & I had a great race!!!
I happen to read your suggestion afterwards, but you put the words in context for me to share this w/others.
I really love this site, and the Tues. nite conference calls!!
THANKS!!!
Hey Kerry,
Thanks again for everything you do for us. I listen to the interview series over and over again. Well worth the price I paid.
This might be a stupid question, if so, don’t bother answering. When one does an IM, I’m assuming that everyone high tails it to the woods or potty to relieve themselvers, right? I rode my bike for about 5 hours today, and had to stop 3 times. I’ve read a lot, and listened to a lot of information, but have heard little discussed on this subject…I’m assuming it is because it is so obvious it should not be discussed??? For example, does a Chrissie Wellington or Potts make any stops during her IM crushing times?
Stop pedaling. Lean a little to the side and relax. Best to do this on a downhill. You may get some on your leg, but just clean it up using your water bottle. (Make sure it is water and not sports drink!#!)

Just keep riding and pee. If you don’t have to pee then you are probably dehydrated.
Experts on this subject are Bevan and John http://www.imtalk.me
