3 signs you may be over training

There are varying signs to weather you are over trained and the symptoms can vary from person to person. I have compiled a list of 3 things that you should watch for.

1. Heart rate. If you are unable to raise your heart rate when training to levels needed after a solid warm up and then forget training and call it a day.

Conversely your heart rate may be abnormally high especially your resting heart rate. Either direction that your heart rate may be going you will not feel, “right”. Take it easy and lay off.

2. Over all state of health. If you are getting sick or injured often this is another possible sign. Being in your top form is a fine line between over training and being your fastest but if you are breaking down allot then step back and examine every thing that is going on.

3. Mental State. This is probably one of the most over looked areas in over training. If you are cranky have a sudden loss of desire to race or train, maybe you are lacking the ability to concentrate…….if any of these are far out of the norm then you may be over trained.

If a spouse or loved one is picking up on these changes you may want to listen to them as
often those out side of you can get a better picture of what is going on when you are so driven in one direction.

These are some of the main symptoms. It may be entirely different for you however. The main thing I suggest is being aware of your over all state of being in and away from training. If you notice a trend then stop and rest for a few day to see if symptoms subside.

It’s OK if you need to do this. It is not how hard you train so much as it is how well you can recover and this takes time.

Peace & Love
