Music or no Music that is the question? I love music. I can easily survive with out TV but I must have music. Yet I never use music when training. What is the triathlon coaching point of this?
I train like I race. There will be no bumping beats in my ears when I’m racing. May be by the finish line but some times that music hardly gets me excited.
It comes down to motivating your self. Relying on music to keep you ripping out on the race course is not beneficial as MP3 players and other devices of the same sort are not allowed on the race course.
Triathlon coaching is not always down to others assisting you. At times you need to coach your self. Saying positive things and staying focused while racing is a good example of this type of self coaching. Training with no music is the perfect time to perfect this skill.
My triathlon coaching advice for the day, train the way you race……use no music.
